Day 12: London, for real this time

We boarded the plane to London with our sweaters packed deep in our bags and a sufficient tan. When we arrived back in the UK we were not welcomed by that well known London grey, but instead a beautiful autumn sun. 

Matt’s parents, Steph and Nick, met us here and we all stayed in a beautiful Covent Garden walkup just above a wine bar and across from a classic pub. Thankfully our first night Nick made us a delicious homemade dinner, the first we had in what felt like weeks. 

Our time in London was destined to be short so we made the best of our time there. We saw so many things, and racked up some miles walking. A high tea at The Savoy, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Kensington palace, Harrods, and a very short ride on a double decker bus. All in all, we were loving the weather and loving the sights. 

In London, there was a new face I had never met and Matt had not seen in over a decade. Enter, India; a chic, English cousin, ready to show us a good time in the city. She organized wonderful dinners for us each night and my surprise early birthday present from Matt. An ear piercing! India has a dream job in Soho at a high end jewelry and piercing shop, located in Liberty, a department store catering to the über posh for over 100 years. So for my 26th, I got a new hole in my head and a new diamond stud to fill it, the perfectly tiny birthday present. 

To wrap up our speed tour of London we had a wonderful last hooray catching up with some familiar faces who also reside in the London area; India our London hostess, David and Nanette old friends of Nick and Steph’s, Tessa our cousin from NZ, and our very fab friend Helen. 

And like a flash we are off again, see you in Paris.
